Lying movements often rely on Romans 10:4-5 where it is written that “Christ is the end of the law” to claim that the moral Law has no role in salvation. Paul’s thought is this: Christ is the end (goal, completion, fulfillment) of the Law with regard to justification of past sins, because only His sacrifice removes guilt.
But this does not mean the abolition of the moral Law. Christ ends:
the Law as a means of forgiveness (because forgiveness comes through His blood),
the Law as a system of Jewish rituals and ceremonies (fulfilled and no longer binding Hebrews 10),
but He does not end the Law as the standard of holiness, righteousness, and salvation.
These movements twist this passage to support their misinterpretations, leading people into destructive heresies. In doing so, they undermine the essential role of the moral Law in salvation and deny its salvific impact on believers, which Scripture repeatedly affirms.
Additional Paragraph — The Evangelical Misunderstanding Exposed
Evangelical and Protestant antinomian groups completely misunderstand Paul’s words because they approach the text with a preconceived ideology:
they assume that “faith” replaces obedience, that grace cancels responsibility, and that holiness is optional.
Thus, when they read “Christ is the end of the law,” they falsely interpret it as:
“the Law no longer applies,”
“obedience is irrelevant,”
“holiness is not required,”
“the commandments have no saving role,”
“God does not expect righteousness,”
“you can still sin occasionally and remain saved.”
This is a total perversion of Paul’s teaching.
Paul never said that Christ removed the standard of holiness.
He never said that God’s moral commandments expired.
He never said that the believer is free to sin.
On the contrary, Paul teaches:
“Do we then make void the Law through faith? God forbid: we establish the Law.” (Romans 3:31)
“The doers of the Law will be justified.” (Romans 2:13)
“Shall we continue in sin? God forbid.” (Romans 6:1–2)
“Being made free from sin, you became servants of righteousness.” (Romans 6:18)
Evangelical movements ignore these verses because they contradict their doctrine of effortless salvation.
In reality:
Christ ends the Law only as a ritual system and as a means of forgiveness
not as the rule of life, holiness, and salvation.
The moral Law remains binding, active, salvific, and necessary,
and it is fulfilled through victorious sanctification in complete holiness without sin.
Their false understanding leads millions to destruction by teaching them that they can be saved while living below God’s standard of holiness
