Nehemiah 9:29

Nehemiah 9:29

And testified against them, that You might bring them back to Your law. Yet they acted proudly, and did not heed Your commandments, but sinned against Your judgments, “which if a man does, he shall live by them.” And they shrugged their shoulders, stiffened their necks, and would not hear.
This verse exposes with absolute clarity the divine intention behind the Law:
God gave His commandments so that man might live by them.
The Law is not secondary, symbolic, or optional Scripture states plainly that the one who does the ordinances of God shall live. This “life” is not merely physical survival but includes spiritual life, purity, holiness, and eternal life.
The people’s rebellion shrugging their shoulders, stiffening their necks, refusing to listen is portrayed as a direct rejection of the very source of life and salvation.
The Law is the cause and principle of God’s will, and will is inherent in God’s very nature and character.
Therefore, the Law expresses God Himself.
The fruits of the Law of God in man are:
righteousness,
inner harmony and purity,
assurance of eternal life,
a conscience at peace before God,
holiness without sin.
The Use of the Law: To Maintain Eternal Life
God’s Law was given to maintain eternal life in those who walk in it.
Its purpose is:
to prevent transgression,
to govern our life by the Spirit,
to produce holiness without sin,
and to bring us to eternal life as its natural end.
Luke 10:27
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, strength, mind, and imagination, and your neighbor as yourself.
This is the life of the Kingdom.
Ezekiel 20:11 — The Law Gives Life
Ezekiel 20:11
And I gave them My statutes and showed them My judgments, which, if a man does, he shall live by them.
This verse repeats the same divine principle:
To do the Law is to live.
God Himself explains that His commandments are life-giving.
To reject them is to reject life.
Matthew 19:16-17 Jesus Confirms the Same Truth
Matthew 19:16-17
If you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.
Jesus speaks with perfect clarity. There is no ambiguity, no hidden meaning, no theological reinterpretation. Eternal life is conditioned on obedience to the commandments of God, lived in complete holiness without sin.
When Christian movements try to deny this truth, they are not interpreting—they are distorting.
If we remove all sectarian influence and read the text honestly, Matthew 19:17 openly declares that obedience to the commandments of God in total holiness and purity is a criterion for entering into eternal life.
Nehemiah 9:29 (second citation) — God’s Law Gives Life
Nehemiah 9:29
…they sinned against your ordinances, which give life to those who do them.
The Spirit of God emphasizes again that the Law is not a burden but a source of life.
To sin against the Law is to sin against the very instrument God gave for salvation.
Refusing the Law is refusing life.
The meaning is unmistakable:
God’s ordinances save,
God’s commandments give life,
Salvation is attached to doing the Law every day,
Holiness without sin is the daily path that preserves eternal life.
Conclusion — The Law of God Saves the One Who Does It Every Day Without Sin
Common sense, spiritual sense, and biblical revelation all agree:
The Law of God gives life to those who practice it daily in complete holiness, without sin.
This is not human invention; this is the repeated testimony of Scripture:
If a man does them, he shall live (Nehemiah 9:29)
If a man does them, he shall live (Ezekiel 20:11)
If you want to enter into life, keep the commandments (Matthew 19:17)
The Law of God saves—not by abolishing grace, but by preserving the forgiven by Jesus’ blood for the  soul in holiness, purity, righteousness, and obedience.
Grace forgives past sins;
the Law maintains life thereafter, leading to final salvation !
To deny this is to deny Scripture itself !!!
