Isaiah 6:5 Woe is me! I am undone, for I am a man of unclean lips.
Yeah, this one is a big one quoted many times by false mouvements. It is completely wrong to think that prophet Isaiah is referring to the use of vulgarities or profanities when he speaks of “unclean lips.” This expression does not mean that he is guilty of sinful speech in the moral sense of the
term.
On the contrary, this statement comes from the profound realization of his own human condition in the face of the absolute holiness of God. In this passage, Isaiah is confronted with divine majesty and perfection, which exposes his insignificance as a man. He recognizes that, while he is not necessarily guilty of flagrant sins, his human condition is marked by irregularities, imperfections, and defects inherent in human nature, which,
while not sinful, fall far short of divine purity
Thus, Isaiah’s cry reflects a state of deep respect, humility and reverence before the holiness of God and not an admission of vulgarity or coarseness in his language. It is a moment of spiritual revelation, where he recognizes himself as unworthy in comparison with the perfection of God and the Heavenly Kingdom.
