Matthew 5:17, Jesus says, ‘Do not think that I came to
destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.’
Jesus teaches that He came to fulfill the sacrificial law that pointed to Him, especially the prophecies concerning Him, such as those in Isaiah 53. His mission was to complete what was foretold, not to abolish the Law. Here, it is not a question of accomplishing the moral law in such a way that it removes
the duty of men to obey it.
